Welcome to Body Language Massage & Wellness.
We help you communicate with your body.
Historic and convenient Location
Body Language Massage and Wellness was originally founded in 1999 by Teri Schiavi LMT, RYT, in Phoenix, Arizona. It is now centrally located in the historic German Village neighborhood of downtown Columbus Ohio. Since its inception, it has been focused on holistic massage, bodywork and spa treatments. Our location is at the corner of Whittier and Macon, just east of the Brown Bag Deli.
Street parking is available along Whittier. Additional parking can be found around Schiller Park two blocks south on Macon.
Hours: By Appointment Only
Self-Serve (online) booking available or you may call or text for assistance.
We offer a three-pronged approach including our custom integrated massage for body, holistic wellness coaching and meditation for mind, and Reiki for spirit. Combined, these work to unify the body-mind, and to encourage growth and healing so you can live your optimal life.
Many therapists believe in "no pain, no gain;" I do not. I believe in listening to the body.
If we pay attention, it will always tell us what it wants, and I respect that. Trigger point and deep tissue are excellent tools for relief, but if the therapy is too aggressive, the muscle can fight back in an unhealthy way. If you are guarding against pain during your massage, the result is more tension and pain later, instead of less. This is why good communication between you and your therapist is so important.
The Custom Integrated (fusion) Massage, can include a mixture of techniques from the following modalities: Swedish Massage, Therapeutic Massage, Indian Head Massage, Hot and/or Cold Stone massage, Bamboo, Trigger point, Reiki, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, PNF, Polarity, Myofascial Release, Lomilomi, and seated Ashiatsu. Offered as a 30 minute spot treatment and as 60 and 90 minute body treatments.
Doterra Essential Oils
As a Doterra Wellness Advocate, we use Doterra oils exclusively. If you have questions, would like to order product or to purchase product at wholesale, please contact me.
A variety of payment options are available for services, tips and gift card purchases.
In addition to credit cards and cash, you may go contactless with Apple or Google pay, or transfer payments using CashApp, Zelle or Venmo.
We also accept a variety of crypto currencies.
Although we do not bill insurance companies, we do accept HSA/FSA cards from qualifying health spending accounts (check with your HR department to be sure.)
We gladly accept Spa Finder and Spa Week gift cards.
The typical membership-based massage establishments require a contract and an auto-deduction from your account or else you'll pay the much higher non-member price of $99 for a 50min relaxation massage. This is increasingly common to the industry. I won't ask for your bank account information or a contract (unless you want one.) If you come back monthly, you will get a discount off of our already lower regular rate for a full 60 minute hour.
Cancellations, Late Arrivals and No-Shows
We understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In our desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored:
Late arrivals may have a shortened appointment to accommodate subsequent clients. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the full session.
24-hour advance notice is appreciated when cancelling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment.
Habitual no-shows may be charged for their missed appointment.
